About Trinity Beach Cairns, Great Barrier Reef, Australia

So, you’ve been thinking about coming to Cairns Australia to see the Great Barrier Reef… but did you know just how many other wonderful natural attractions, adventure activities and wildlife experiences abound in the Cairns region? The list is endless, but one thing is for sure, Trinity Beach is not only a beautiful tropical beach to base yourself in, it is central to many of the attractions and activities you can visit in and around Cairns.

Very popular, particularly with families, you will be surprised to find that Trinity Beach never appears crowded. Great for a swim at any time of year, a netted enclosure is rolled out during stinger season and a lifeguard is on duty year round for swimmer safety. Cairns beaches are great for children. There is no wild surf in Cairns – the beaches are protected by the Great Barrier Reef.

The free electric bbqs with undercover picnic tables scattered along Trinity Beach (between the palm trees and sea almonds) are well sought after by locals and tourists alike on weekends – make sure you get in early! There’s a shaded children’s playground next to one of these bbq areas and there’s beachfront watersports equipment and beach chair hire in peak season.

Every now and then you will see a wedding happening at Trinity Beach, the beauty of the beach makes for outstanding wedding photos and you can’t get a more romantic spot – particularly when there’s a full moon, it’s stunning!

You don’t have to be on the beach to enjoy the view of Trinity Beach! There’s a beachfront pub, cafes and restaurants where you can enjoy a drink, a meal, the sea breezes and the views.

What else is in Trinity Beach?

For starters, there’s another beach! From Taylors Point in the north of Trinity Beach a more secluded and undeveloped beach is a lovely spot for a picnic – and has marvellous views overlooking other Cairns beaches with the backdrop of the mountains, and out to sea looking at Double Island.

There’s more restaurants! Great places for breakfast lunch and dinner one block back from the beachfront, and more dining and takeaway options at the local shopping centre. There’s also a football club which has meals and pokies and will pick you up and drop you off from your Trinity Beach holiday home.

Trinity Beach has all you need in terms of shops and services – supermarket, baker, butcher, newsagency, post office, video shop, doctors, dentists, pharmacy, massage, gymnasiums, etc, and if you want to spend more time in the shopping area, there is a larger shopping centre nearby – approximately a 5 minute drive – at Smithfield.
